This has been my most special and “interesting” wedding to date and will also be the longest post with the most images:)
Christine has been one of my best friends since grade 1. We were inseparable in primary school… to such an extent that my parents were worried we were not going to make any other friends:) Christine is the person who I know the best in my life, have experienced the most with and have fought the hardest with. She is like a sister to me. I’ve spent most of my high school holidays with her and her family and have been like a child in her house. When she got engaged and asked me to be her photographer I was extremely proud, nervous and oh did I say nervous already? She is my friend with the the highest expectations, highest standards and most style and I wanted to delivery every bit of her expectations.
I was more than ready on the day of her wedding and was super excited. Unfortunately things turned out different from what we expected. To make a long story short (I like to elaborate) Christine started feeling sick the night before her wedding. On the day when I arrived at the guest house to start with her photos she mentioned that she felt ill but I thought (and we all did) it was just pre-wedding nerves. As the day progressed she just got worse and was feeling horrible by the time we had to go for their couple shoot. Like I said; to make a long story short… Christine was SUCH A TROOPER and put on a brave face as much as possible, stuck it out until her first dance, but by 9pm the evening we had to take her to the emergency room and she was submitted to the hospital. She had a fever of 41 degrees and had inflammation in her kidneys. It was such a disappointment for her and such a sad turn of events and I’m sure every bride’s worst nightmare!
Luckily she has a friend who could not rest until she had the perfect wedding photos and with the assistance of her amazing hair & makeup artist, Minke du Plessis and dress designer, Robyn Roberts we decided to do a re-shoot of their couple photos. I have decided to blog these at the end of the post so that you could see the difference:) I am so happy with the results and that we could still capture her as a happy, relaxed and breathtaking bride! I also have to make a special mention of the groom, Frikkie who was just so amazingly relaxed in front of the camera and never complained once about me just wanting to take more and more photos:)
I would like to thank my awesome second shooter on the wedding day, Alicia Smit who was amazing as usual!
