Urban wedding inspiration

Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with on of my favourite events companies on two beautiful styled shoots.  These two ladies have serious creative and coordinating skills and together we envisioned this super trendy and modern urban shoot.  Sunelle from Blank Canvas’ really outdid herself with the concept and really surprised me with some of the super cool elements in this shoot.. Here is what she had to say about the two different themes of this shoot:

Not every bride wants the typical aspects of a romantic theme, so we created a look for a daring urban bride. One who wants to create a contemporary environment using bold, trendy colours. We decided to use two cities as our inspiration – New York, the city that never sleeps and Johannesburg, the city of gold.

To incorporate the concept of time, we played with clocks and hourglasses to underpin this idea. We used the well known city skyline as a backdrop and juxtaposed the use of greenery to play on the theme of an “urban jungle”. We were inspired by the classic image of a yellow New York cab, so we combined bright pops of colour to our neutral palette of black, white and grey.

To showcase the city of gold and the mines that gave its name, we used a charcoal colour scheme with diamond shapes and South African flora and textures. We used a base palette of black, white and grey but lifted it up by using metallics and softer hues from the flowers.

I love small details in wedding decor and was doing little jumps of excitement when I saw these themes come together.
